Talking Rammed boat hoped to be salvaged

De Groot says the team is now working to salvage the multi-million protest boat, which is tied to the Bob Barker.

There are hopes that it could be towed to the French Antarctic base Dumont Durville where there is a supply ship equipped with a crane which could lift the Ady Gil aboard, de Groot says.

Best news I have heard all day! Thanks for posting

No surprise here so now their 10's of millions of dollars of PR will only end up costing 300-400k perhaps even less. Mission successful. You know there will be more than enough in donations to the cause from today's publicity to cover the bills.

Well done SSCS!! good publicity and good news coverage for days to come!! Based on the exposure and a 2.5% donations return should do quite nicely out of it.

Yea, because they intentionally asked the Japanese to steer into their ship and take out the hull, because it's Paul Watson's prerogative to have their ships destroyed and have to waste valuable time and fuel with repairs and things as opposed to stopping the whole whaling operation.

You're an absolute moron and you're unwelcome here. Your negativity isn't charming or clever, it's redundant and boring and obviously I'm not in the minority thinking this way. Maybe you should find some pro-whaling forums to fester in because you're wasting your time here.

    Seriously.

"Oh hi Mum, how are you?"
"OK. What did you do today?"
"Got on a forum and told a bunch of eco freaks that their beliefs are really dumb! Should have seen me. I showed them how stupid they are!!"
"All bloody day? What about the laundry?"
    "Well...I...er..."
"Oh darling, what are we going to do with you?"

I don't even know why I bother responding as you clearly do not read what I have to say.

This is about community awareness and generating public interest. This is an effective way to do it. If it successful in stopping whaling then this is fantastic and I will applaud Seashepherd, however considering it is unlikely to occur then the only real benefit to come out of this is further public discontent on the whaling topic and some money for the coffers to prepare for next years campaign.

Why the charade. Tell it how it is and be honest. "We put our very expensive boat in danger to generate public awareness for the horrific activities occurring in the southern ocean and hope that public discontent will result in Japan realising how bad their actions are and stop killing whales."

however when this doesn't happen then what has been achieved other than several hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage and costs what is achieved? The answer to that ladies and gentleman is the answer to whether this is an effective anti-whaling campaign or an elaborate anti-whaling community awareness project.
