Maker of exploding laptops, Apple is now getting into the field of exploding gadgets.

The outfit is being sued by Lynette Antrobus, the mother of kid who had an iTouch explode and catch fire in his pocket. The case calls for $75,000 in compensatory damages, with additional punitive fines.

According to the court papers the iTouch was purchased on November 17, 2008 from Apple. Apparently the kid had taken it to school and was in his pocket. He heard a loud pop and a burning sensation on his leg. When he stood up his pants were on fire.

The fire had burned through his pant's pocket and "melted through his Nylon/Spandex underwear, burning his leg" giving him iburns. To make matters worse he lost his expensive $400 iTouch, which apparently he still wants.

Recently the Japan division of Apple payed an unknown settlement fee to a young man in 2008 after he suffered burns from his Mac laptop battery, which also reportedly caught fire.

Apple fanboys writing in droves to tell us that Apple gear is too expensive and well made to explode so therefore anything that does, is clearly a blessing from Steve Jobs and are hoping that theirs will explode too.

ehemmm...

REPORTS OF A LAPTOP exploding into flames have caused Toshiba to urge its customers to check their packages.

Toshiba laid the blame for the flames, that on May 24th, engulfed the British laptop, on a Sony battery pack. Toshiba said it asked Sony to investigate the incident and the firm indeed found that the battery was at fault.

It was identified as being on Toshiba's warning list, but had never been replaced.

As you should be aware, laptop computers can explode at any second, especially if they have one of the ten million or so dodgy, Sony-built batteries glowing inside.

All pedlars of laptops have lists and lists of dangerous batteries posted on their websites. Check yours now before it is too late.

Toshiba said it was making, "continued efforts to promote participation" in the battery replacement programme..

Worryingly, a spokesman told VNUNet: "This incident followed another that occurred this April in Japan, also involving an un-replaced battery pack.

"Accordingly, the company is now embarking on a new round of efforts to encourage customers to check their PCs and to get the battery replaced if it is on the list."

You have been warned.

You shouldn't buy a computer based on its looks. I can find a dell that has the exact same specs as a macbook (the new model) and its about $700 cheaper. Not to mention the new macbook which is the same as the old macbook specs, yet they are charging way more for just because it has a black outlined screen.

One word overpriced

BTW if anyone wants MAC OS for some strange reason... you can crack it and put it on any PC computer now, it will save you thousands. (but that is illegal and no one should do that... but its possible)

As for techs not liking the Vista OS, there is some viable reasons but its mostly because nerds don't like change. This happened when they brought out XP, everyone criticised it and said stick with widnows 98. Since Vista has come out, everyon is now saying stick with XP which just a few years ago they hated.

The techys reckon Windows 7 will save the microsoft range, but frankly I think the same case will happen, hey'll complain about it and then like vista.
